Passed away peacefully February 9, 2008 at Manorcare Center, surrounded by her family, three weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday. |
|
Claire was born January 18, 1908 in Portland, Oregon. Claire married Herman E. “Hank” Chapman in 1927. She was active in the Community of Christ Church, a pianist and music teacher for many years. After living in various locations in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington, Claire and Hank moved to Pasco in 1944. In 1967 they moved to Wilbur where they operated Wilbur Auto Parts. After retiring they moved to Brewster, starting an apple orchard which they operated until 1992. They moved to Spokane in 1996, into retirement living. |

Claire was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Herman, in 1999, and son, Richard E. Chapman, November 8, 2007. Claire is survived by two sons: James B. Chapman (Shirley) of Auburn, Hugh F. Chapman (Daisy) of Spokane; daughter-in-law, Glenda Chapman of Pasco; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. |

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 8, at 1:00 pm at Spokane Valley Community of Christ Church, 11515 Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA. Memorials may be made in her name to Outreach International, PO Box 210, Independence, MO 64051; or a charity of your choice. |
