Leona Elaine Barker (age 85) of Lewiston, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho. |

Leona began her life on March 3, 1924, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, born to Frank and Rose Daugherty. She was one of six children. |
|
Leona graduated from high school in Iowa and later married Ted Carpenter and moved to Grangeville, ID, where she had three children. In 1964, she divorced and returned to Council Bluffs where she lived the majority of her life among family and friends. In 1968, Leona married Forrest Barker of Elgin, Nebraska, and they lived together until his death in 2008. |

Leona was a loving mother and caring sister. She loved to volunteer, bake and paint. She will be remembered as a faithful Christian and a dedicated member of the Community of Christ church. |

Leona is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn Bentz of Lewiston; her sons, Fred Carpenter of Lewiston, and Jeff Carpenter of Melissa, Texas; her sisters, Jere Stanzel and Vi Taylor of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Wanda Hike of Bellevue, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. |

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Daugherty; her brothers, Jack and Dwayne Daugherty; and her husband, Forrest Barker. |

A memorial service will be coneucted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Community of Christ church, 1315 Highland Ave., in Clarkston, WA.
